Through the Eyes of a Web & Software Developer
30 Oct
I have a habit of living in the past - I go through memories in my head over and over again. Both good and bad. It’s how I cope - if there’s a bad memory, I relive it until it no longer bothers me or I grow numb to it. If it’s a pleasant memory, I take all I can from it. I enjoy it. Lately (at this time, Aug 2008), I’ve been thinking more of the future. But I still have that certain habit that I just can’t seem to break.
Something I
can’t understand.
Looking back
my promised land
Where had it gone?
Taken perhaps?
Until I realize now,
I’m the traveler,
not the grass.
All life changes
in the blink of an eye.
You can never be fast,
no matter how you try.
Try as you might,
it just rushes by.
But memories wait,
for as long as you lie.
Is it so wrong?
Living in one’s mind…
How can one be expected
to live and learn all at once?
So much to take in,
luckily your mind can repeat.
I can go back now,
come to peace.
But soon that’s all you have,
those memories in your eye.
You’re unable to move forward,
or back in time.
That’s just how it is,
with your life held captive,
by your own mind.
